Nelly Meraz es de origen Mexicano. Sonorense de nacimiento y tecatense de corazón, es una madre orgullosa, esposa feliz, emprendedora, fundadora de MERAZ CONSULTORES, una empresa dedicada a la Asesoría para Transportistas desde hace 20 años. El reto y el logro más grande a pesar de muchos intentos, de múltiples negativas y críticas a través de muchos años Meraz Consultores logró que el Programa Educativo para Transportistas de la Patrulla de Caminos de California se impartiera completamente en español y a eso le siguieron otras agencias regulatorias que entendieron su punto de vista en donde se demostraba que las reglas de seguridad eran muy importantes y que no se podían perder en una traducción, eso se reflejo en una reducción muy significativa en accidentes y muertes en las carreteras.
Su participación en congresos y cumbres tanto en México, Estados Unidos y Canadá a través de los años le ha dado la experiencia y conocimientos necesarios para influir en reglamentaciones en seguridad en beneficio de nuestros transportistas transfronterizos y ser líder en preparación y atención de auditorias tanto federales como estatales en Estados Unidos.
La trayectoria de Nelly Meraz en un país ajeno, en un lenguaje que no era el propio, en una cultura distinta y aparte en un mundo de hombres ha sido muy interesante, llena de oportunidades pero también de trabajo arduo, retos, fracasos, rechazos y sobretodo miedo, miedo de no ser suficiente, de no ser capaz, de no ser aceptada, ese miedo paralizante que no deja avanzar.
El aprender con el apoyo y amor de su familia a ser más fuerte, a creer en ella misma, a prepararse, a hacerse amiga de sus miedos y usarlos a su favor, el darse cuenta que sus fracasos eran necesarios si aprendía la lección, el atreverse a romper paradigmas a ir a veces en contra de lo establecido por conseguir un bien común.
Nelly cree firmemente que toda persona que ha recorrido algún camino con éxito, que ha adquirido conocimientos y experiencia tiene la obligación de compartirlos, de enseñar a otros como SI se pueden lograr las cosas, eso es empoderarse para empoderar por eso decide aceptar la propuesta de empezar a ayudar a mujeres a través de conferencias sobre empoderamiento y liderazgo, algo completamente ajeno a su mundo empoderando hombres.
El haber creado su propio negocio hace 20 años, el ser conferencista y coach internacional certificado por JOHN MAXWELL, el ser miembro de la RED GLOBAL DE MEXICANOS CALIFICADOS EN EL EXTERIOR, el ser el único Asesor en Transporte reconocido por la CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL le ha ayudado a entender que tiene mucho que compartir, mucho que enseñar, que cuenta con las herramientas y la pasión para llegar a más corazones, para hacer una diferencia en la vida de los demás.
Algo aún mas fuerte cambio dentro ella al leer el libro que escribió su gran amiga y reconocida periodista Colila Eguia “FEMINICIDIOS” Asesinatos de mujeres y niñas en Baja California, es tan fuerte la investigación que llevó a cabo Colila que en ese momento Nelly hace un compromiso con ella misma de que hará todo lo que estuviera de su parte para conocer más sobre este gran problema para participar en la educación y empoderamiento para prevenir estas y otras atrocidades!
Su primera conferencia en Mexicali “Caminemos Juntas” A LA CIMA CON TACONES en CEU 16 de Septiembre organizada por el PARLAMENTO NACIONAL DE LA MUJER fue todo un éxito y fue posible gracias al apoyo de la Regidora Carmen Carrera del 22 Ayuntamiento, la señora Margarita Flores de Sánchez Presidenta de DIF Mexicali, Profesor Manuel Ruelas Director de CEU 16 de Septiembre, a el Presidente del Nodo BC de la Red Global de Mexicanos Calificados en el Exterior, a Aníbal Avilés Valle Director de Mercadotecnia y Proyectos CEU 16 de Septiembre, Carmen Romero representante en Baja California del Parlamento Nacional de la Mujer y por supuesto a la Presidenta de el Parlamento Nacional de la Mujer la Lic. Esthela Osuna quien con su liderazgo demuestra una vez más que con trabajo en equipo, con ganas de ayudar y con pasión SIEMPRE SE PUEDE! Esto es por nuestras mujeres y por ende por nuestras familias y nuestra sociedad.
Nelly Meraz, Empowering Women!
Nelly Meraz’s birthplace is Mexico, originally from Sonora but her heart is from Tecate, she is a proud mother, happy wife, entrepreneur, founder of MERAZ CONSULTORES, a company dedicated to help the transportation industry for more than 20 years. The biggest challenge and greatest achievement despite many trials, multiple negatives and vast criticism over the year Meraz Consultores has managed to provide the Educational Program for Transporters of the California Highway Patrol completely in Spanish. This feat was followed by other regulatory agencies upon understanding that safety regulations are so crucial that they could not afford to get lost in translation, this resulted in a significant decrease of accidents and deaths on the freeways.
Its ongoing engagement in conventions and summits in Mexico, the United States and Canada over the years has given them the experience and knowledge necessary to influence safety regulations that benefit the transportation industry of the border, and has made it a leader in the auditing process both at the state and federal level in the United States.
Nelly’s journey in a foreign country, along with a foreign language, in a different culture and in a male dominated world has been very interesting and full of opportunities; but also of hard work, challenges, failures, rejections and above all fear. Fear of not being enough, of not being capable, of not being accepted; the paralyzing fear that keeps you from moving forward.
She has learned to be stronger with the love and support of her family, to believe in herself, to prepare herself, to become friends with her fears and use them to her advantage by realizing that her failures were necessary to learn a lesson, to dare to break paradigms and go against the current to achieve a common good.
Nelly believes firmly that every person who has walked a road to success, who has also achieved knowledge and experience, has the obligation to share them, to teach others how they too CAN achieve great things. That is to be empowered in order to empower others, that is why she decided to accept the offer to help women through her Empowerment and Leadership Conferences, something completely out of her world to empower men.
Having created her own business 20 years ago, being a Speaker and Coach with an international certification from John Maxwell, and to be a member of the Global Network of Qualified Mexicans Abroad, being the only Consultant for Transportation recognized by the California Highway Patrol has helped her understand that she has a lot to share and a lot to teach, that she has the tools and the passion to touch many more hearts, to make a difference in the lives of others.
Stronger yet, the book “Feminicidios” (“Femicides”) authored by her close friend and well known journalist, Colila Eguia, made a deep change inside of her. Upon reading the book which covers the murders of women and girls in Baja California, with Colila’s explicit investigation forced Nelly to make a commitment with herself to do everything in her power to know more about this immense problem and to participate in the education and empowerment of others to prevent these and other atrocities.
Her inaugural conference in Mexicali, “Walking Together, to the Summit in High Heels” (“Caminemos Juntas, a la Cima con Tacones”) at the CEU last September 16, organized by the National Parliament for Women (Parlamento Nacional de la Mujer), was an absolute success made possible through the support of Councilwoman Carmen Carrera of the 22nd District; Mrs. Margarita Flores de Sanchez, President of the DIF Mexicali; Prof. Manuel Ruelas, Director of the CEU 16 de Septiembre; the President of the NODO BC of the Global Network of Qualified Mexicans Abroad; Anibal Aviles Valle, Director of Marketing and Projects of the CEU 16 de Septiembre; Carmen Romero, Baja California Representative of the National Parliament for Women; and to Lic. Esthela Osuna who, with their leadership have shown once again that with teamwork, drive and passion ¡SI SE PUEDE! – YES WE CAN! This is for our women, and therefore, for our families and our society.
